Individual Health Insurance
Are you between jobs? Employed by a company that does not offer benefits? Self-employed? Finding that coverage for your dependents is too expensive on your group plan? A recent college graduate?
For all these situations, and many more, individual health insurance can be an excellent choice for you and/or your family. Individual health insurance is typically more affordable than group insurance and offers many options from which you may choose. The cost and range of protection provided by your health insurance will depend on your insurance provider and the particular policy you purchase.
DON'T GET CAUGHT UNINSURED!
The following are common reasons why people don't have health insurance:
They can't afford it. I work with a broad range of plans with affordable monthly premiums. A single hospital visit could cost you thousands of dollars simply for basic care. Plus, many people don't realize that, if you have an at-fault auto accident, your auto insurance typically DOES NOT COVER your medical costs.Medical expenses are the #1 cause of personal bankruptcy! In today's world, you can't afford not to have health insurance!
It's too confusing. There are many important decisions to make. I can help you through the "maze" of this very-important decision.
They're healthy right now, so they don't need health insurance. Congratulations on staying healthy! Like other insurance, you purchase health insurance to protect yourself from the costs related to an unexpected illness or injury. By paying monthly premiums, you help protect yourself from the possibility of larger bills later that could bankrupt the average person.
They already have medical problems and don't think they can get health insurance. There may still be options available to you. I can help you understand what options exist and the pro's and con's of the options.
Simply put, health insurance is protection against medical costs. A health insurance policy is a contract between an insurer and an individual or group, in which the insurer agrees to provide specified health insurance at an agreed-upon price (the premium). Health insurance usually provides either direct payment or reimbursement for expenses associated with illnesses and injuries. If your employer does not offer a health insurance plan, you may wish to purchase health insurance on your own.
Individual plans, with the exception of Kaiser, are Preferred Provider Organization plans (PPO). You receive much better benefits by using a doctor in the plan's network; and you also have benefits outside the network, if you choose. Kaiser is an HMO and you must use their network of clinics and Kaiser doctors. Deductibles (the amount you pay before the plan pays at all) range from $500 to $10,000. I work with ten companies (click on "Companies" in the column on the left) that offer nearly 150 different plans options; so I'm confident I can help you find a plan that meets your needs.
PLEASE NOTE THAT INDIVIDUAL PLANS ARE SUBJECT TO UNDERWRITING. PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITIONS MAY AFFECT IF YOU QUALIFY FOR A PLAN AND WHICH PLANS WILL ACCEPT YOU.
